Tommy Curry makes a record

Tommy Curry has taken a hiatus from teaching high school in Connecticut to relocate to Charlottesville, VA, with his folk-rock band The Currys, formed with brother Jimmy and cousin Galen Curry. In September, the band played Hill Country BBQ in D.C. to an audience including fellow Princetonians Dan Pall, Maggie Orr, and Gordon Franken '09, among many others! The Currys are currently in the studio recording their debut album with about $19,000 in funds raised from their successful summer Kickstarter campaign. Tommi Hurme gets hitched; George Butts becomes a telenovela star!

Bryant Blount reports, “Tommi Hurme married Juli Szaller, of Budapest, September 7, 2013 at beautiful Forest Lake Camp in upstate New York.  The couple met in Europe when Tommi was studying for a master’s at Central European University.  The ceremony was prefaced by a day of trapshooting, archery, hiking, rock climbing, and watersports along a private lake in the Adirondack mountains.  Princetonians were well represented, including the groom’s family, former roommates, and teammates from the fencing team. After a TV debut with the lead role of Randy in the reenactment docudrama "Unfaithful: Stories of Betrayal" on the Oprah Winfrey Network, George Butts signed with a manager in NYC and booked a guest role on the 3rd season of the hit Colombian crime drama "El Capo", produced by FoxTelecolombia and returning fall 2013, on MundoFox.  In this season, the famed El Capo encounters opposition from the international mafia: George is the thuggish Russian assistant to the kingpin Asimov, delivering, in Spanish, his first lines on TV. Julie's writes a dissertation on refugee students; Mariela and Pancho reconnect in Bulgaria

Julie McWilliams is working on her dissertation and has finished coursework for a joint-PhD in urban education and cultural anthropology.  Her dissertation is about refugee students in Philadelphia schools and their transition experiences to the U.S., and she is pictured with three of her students.  She will be spending the year gathering data for that.  Kurt Kuehne just started his masters in Southeast Asian studies at the University of Wisconsin.  He also spent the summer taking an intensive Burmese course.  

Mariela Vacheva and Pancho

Mulongeni are pictured having a reunion at a café in Sofia, Bulgaria on May 25^th.  Pancho came to Princeton as an international student from Namibia, but he was also a part of the Bulgarian speaking community since he was born in Sofia and half of his family hails from there.  Pancho said, “Mariela is amazing, not only does she work in a local I-bank, but she also set up an NGO called 'Tuk-Tam' (Here and There) that helps the vast number of Bulgarian young people living outside the country find jobs that facilitate their return.” Mariela has organized a forum around career opportunities annually since graduating in 2008.  Pancho works at PharmAccess Foundation as a research assistant and recently helped organize a conference for the HIV Clinicians' Society of Namibia on the latest advances on HIV treatment and prevention. 

Erica Duke married Teddy Forsyth! Lilli also got married

Erica Duke and Edward (Teddy) Forsyth tied the knot on June 15, 2013 at the Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, CA. The groom (son of William Forsyth, Jr. '67) is a third year medical student at Stony Brook University, where Erica will begin a Masters of Social Work in the fall. Over 40 Princetonians attended, including bridesmaid Jessica Harrop, Andrew Ferguson, Anita Gupta,  Cate Adams,  Chloe Angyal '09, Christine Murphy '07,  Emilie Aguirre, Fannie Bialek '09, James Ashenhurst, Keith Hall '10, Jess Liu, Jon Weed '09, Jordan Kisner '09, Justin Weiss '06, Lauren McKenna '07, Lindsey Olson, Liz Malta, Molly Ephraim , Morgan Jacobs '09, Rich Lebano , Ross Elliot,  Sarah Halprin , Spencer Case '09, Roger Q. Mason and Regina Lee. This picture was taken just before a spontaneous rendition of "Old Nassau"!

Lilli Dash and Jono Zimmerman (McGill University ’09) got married on June 9^th, 2013.   Many Tigers were in attendance, including classmates Clare Lambert, Katheryn Dennison, Ann Kenny, Mac Williams, Lindsay Seigel, Alexandra Arader, Schuyler Laird, Jennifer McReynolds, Aaron Linsky, Nicole Weitz, Gayle Rudofsky, Peter Muller, and Michael Jester.  Jake Cochrane ’07, Will Presti ’07, Sam Benen ’07, Tony Hack ’07 were also in attendance as well as Johanna Mayer ’10. And last but certainly not least, Lilli’s Dad Greg Dash ’78 and Mom Claudia Dash were proud attendees, as well as Mike Devlin ’78 and Ken Levinson ’78.  Lilli graduated from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in May and began her Obstetrics/Gynecology residency at UPENN.  Jono began Temple Law School in August.

Highlight Reel from the 5th Reunion - and Emily Aull got married!

Our Gr08 Gatsby-themed 5^th reunion was an epic success!  JAMIE BLACKBURN is pictured at reunions with his daughter Zoe, who was born September 22, 2012, which “makes her Princeton class of 2034, unless she goes to Cornell like her mother”.  JAMIE and his wife Victoria have spent the last three years in DC and plan to be there for the foreseeable future as JAMIE will be starting at a law firm in the fall.  He graduated from GW Law in May.

ALANA ARNOLD, HANNIBAL PERSON, GABRIEL IVEY, MALIK SAUNDERS and RANDY ALLEN made a strong appearance at the P-Rade (pictured left to right). HANNIBAL received an MD from Duke University School of Medicine in May, 2013. He will be moving to New York City to complete a combined residency program in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Hospital.  RANDY graduated from his PhD program in chemical engineering at Stanford University in June, and will be moving to Dallas to work at a flexible

electronics start up focusing on biomedical applications.  MALIK also just earned his Master’s degree in Computational Operations Research from The College of William and Mary, and is moving to St. Louis to work in corporate predictive analytics.  Prior to grad school, he taught high school math for 3 years.  He hopes to one day return to education, using predictive analytics and machine learning techniques to inform education reform.

             

   JESSICA HARROP, CATE ADAMS, LINDSEY OLSON, ERICA DUKE, MIKE HONIGBERG and CHRIS BREEN were also present on the front lines of the P-Rade (pictured left to right).   CATE made it back from LA where she has lived since graduation and was recently promoted to Creative Executive in the feature film department at Warner Bros.  MIKE is starting his final year at Harvard Medical School and is planning on becoming an obstetrician-gynecologist. His non-Princetonian partner, Ben, survived his first Reunions, about which he had the following to say: "That's a lot of orange."

EMILY AULL and Jeff Hill ’07 tied the knot in downtown San Francisco on March 16, 2013 six years after meeting at Tower Club. Groomsmen David Cobey ’07 and Joe Ulerich ’07 helped keep the groom in line, while JAMES ASHENHURST, Natalia Balko ’07, Josh Brodie ’06, Ed Davisson ’06, Sarah Dobkin ’06, Laura Hurd ’07, Julia Cain ’07, Scott Grzenczyk ’06, KIRI HAGERMAN, Keith Hall ’10, Ronee Penoi ’07, and Jeff Pinner ’07 kept the party going late into the night!  Emily and Jeff live in the Bay Area with their pup, Cody.
