Guitars, Safaris and Protein Absorption!

PAUL COWGILL (pictured right) is playing in a 6 piece indie rock band in Boston that began doing shows locally in June of 2011.  The band – appropriately called “Cowgill” – is quickly expanding to other places on the East Coast and beyond! Paul said, “think part Punch Brothers, part The Beatles, part Dave Matthews Band, part Radiohead, and part Taking Back Sunday… minus a little talent, but with big plans.”  Paul sings, writes songs, and plays acoustic guitar. After Princeton, LAUREN RIDGE (pictured) returned to her home state of North Carolina.  She is pursuing her PhD at North Carolina State University in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department.  Lauren is doing computational work studying the absorption of proteins onto nanoparticles and surfaces.

MICOL MARTINELLI spent 3 weeks over the summer in Tanzania, where she climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro.  She said it was “absolutely the most challenging but amazing experience ever!”  Micol saw baby lions on safari and relaxed on the beaches of Zanzibar post climb.  She said Tanzania is an incredibly beautiful country and that the vacation represented “the best 3 weeks since Princeton!”

Help Paul Cowgill Raise $6,000 to release his 1st Album

More Wedding Bells!

KIRA SCHIAVELLO married Preston Larson (Montana State University ’03) on July 4th, 2011 in River Vale, NJ. An amazing group of Princeton friends was there to celebrate, including TIM CHESTON and EVAN O’REILLY as ushers and JULIANN VIKSE and SAYURI JINADASA as readers. Also pictured: Anna Irwin ’09, SEAN HAMMER, Stacy Dubov ’09, CONNORCOBEAN, MISAN IKOMI, MELISSA DEUTSCH, and MADELINE TAYLOR; and in attendance, AHMED MELEIS and Professors Maria Garlock and Ted Zoli.

Kira said she and Preston were soulmates from the start! They first met while living in the same building in Jersey City. They then discovered they worked in the same building in Manhattan, where Kira is a Structural Engineer at Weidlinger Associates and Preston is Account Supervisor for Lexus at Team One. The couple couldn’t be happier as husband and wife. They spent their honeymoon cruising the Mediterranean and relaxing in Costa Rica. They’re excited to move into their new home in NJ this fall. 
ANN KENNY is living in NYC and is working for New York Magazine in their digital business development group.  She took a 10-day vacation to South Africa this summer, splitting her time between exploring the sites in Cape Town and going on a safari in Sabi Sands.

A New Season of PAW Magazine Columns!

Hey Class! With three years behind us, we’ve officially started our senior year of life.  I know that you’re all doing amazing things, so please send me updates and pictures so that I can share your news in our class PAW column. 
BRENDAN CIRCLE married the woman of his dreams – Ashtyn Circle – on August 21, 2010 in Los Angeles.  It was a reunion for Brendan’s football teammates, but more importantly, a celebration of Brendan’s and Ashtyn’s lives beginning together.  Brendan is currently working and living in Newport Beach, CA.
TIMOTHY NUNAN published a translated, edited edition of writings by the German jurist Carl Schmitt, entitled "Writings on War" with Polity Press in July.  The book is a collection of three books by Schmitt, one of the most prominent German intellectuals of the 20th century and a controversial figure due to his engagement with National Socialism. Tim tackled this project as an extension of his second JP.  He is at Oxford now, where he completed a masters in Economic and Social History (courtesy of the Rhodes Scholarship) and is continuing on to do a doctorate in History focusing on Soviet international development in Afghanistan during the 1980s.
